Klein Goederust Wine Farm: A Story of Resilience, Heritage, and Excellence
Nestled in the scenic winelands of South Africa, Klein Goederust Wine Farm stands as a testament to resilience, heritage, and hope. Established in 1905, the historic farm flourished under the ownership of Paul Siguqa, who purchased it in 2019. Today, Klein Goederust is a thriving black-owned wine estate, breaking barriers in an industry steeped in tradition. To learn more about the farm and its offerings, visit their official website.
A Rich History and Cultural Legacy
Paul Siguqa’s journey with Klein Goederust is deeply personal. He grew up in Klapmuts alongside childhood friends like the farm’s host, Noline, and winemaker Rodney. Their parents worked on local wine farms, a bond that shaped their futures.
When Paul acquired the farm, his family encouraged him to rename it. However, he chose to preserve its original name to honor its rich history. The only change made was adding the Southern Ground Hornbill in the farm’s logo, a significant symbol from Paul’s Xhosa heritage in the Eastern Cape.
Building a Unique Wine Estate
Initially, Paul didn’t enjoy wine due to painful childhood memories tied to the industry. However, a wine-tasting event changed his perspective. It helped him see the wine industry as a platform for creating positive change. With Rodney by his side, Paul decided to purchase Klein Goederust and build on its history. Over the past five years, their combined efforts transformed the farm into a symbol of progress and empowerment.
A Memorable Wine-Tasting Experience
Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by friendly staff, including Mandla (whose name fittingly means “Power”). The original buildings on the farm remain intact, maintaining their unique charm and character. Guests can enjoy refreshing sparkling water while they wait to begin their experience.

Honoring a Legacy
Paul and his team faced a tragic loss with the sudden passing of his mother, Patrice. His drive to make his mother proud motivated him to buy the farm. We extend our deepest condolences to Paul and his family during this difficult time.
